A couple months ago I reached out to an up and coming bridal boutique in Bellingham, Massachusetts. Best decision ever. I was lucky enough to meet with Shadia, the owner, and I totally fell in love with everything she stands for. Shadia and I met at Ve’lace and talked over some marketing ideas. She wanted to host an outdoor photo event to spread the word of the boutique’s opening.
We had a blast! We shot three brides and a bridesmaid. Accent Limousine also came out to network with us. They are amazing!
If I can share a little bit about my experience as a bride shopping for my wedding dress, the chain stores are just there pushing out numbers. I tried quite a few of them and I didn’t feel special in any of them. I didn’t get the butterflies….instead I felt rushed and pushed to buy something I wasn’t really happy with. Ve’Lace offers a one of a kind experience. But I will let Shadia tell you in her own words.
What advice would you give brides searching for a wedding dress?
My biggest piece of advice to brides searching for a wedding gown would be to never judge a gown on a hanger! Try to stay open minded because you just never know until you put the gown on. Some gowns come to life when a bride gets into them versus it hanging on the rack. You will be surprised at what you really love when you actually put it on!
How far in advance should clients book an apt with you?
I suggest that you start your bridal gown shopping no less than 8 months before the wedding. It takes 4-6 months to special order a gown and then alterations start 2 months before the wedding. 12 months before the wedding is optimal as it allows for extra time should there be delays in shipping, etc
What is your price range?
My prices range from $500-$3400. Some gowns can be purchased off the rack in which you could receive a significant discount. Sometimes the discount can be up to 50% off – not all gowns can be sold off the rack and not all at 50% but it’s always worth asking. A gown that would would normally cost $2000 could be sold off rack for $1000 – that’s a $1000 saving!
What makes your boutique unique?
My boutique is unique because we offer a “one bride at a time” experience. Unlike most shops, you are the only bride in the store during your appointment. This allows us to put all our focus and attention on you and your guests.
How long have you been in business? And why did you get started?
Ve’Lace Bridal has been in business for 10 months. It truly has flown by and business has been great! Deep down I’ve always had a love for bridal gowns. I think it’s more than love, it’s an obsession. I remember being a little girl and the feelings I felt when I saw a bride. There were times when I had to be pulled away by my parents because I couldn’t stop staring. I remember looking at brides and thinking, wow, how beautiful! Even as an adult, when I see a bride I stare at the gown’s every last detail, amazed by the construction, design, fabric, bride, and beauty of it all. It’s not all about the gown though, I also enjoy making people happy. I worked a desk job for many years and I knew all along that something was missing. I missed seeing faces, shaking hands, and physically helping someone with their purchase. What an amazing thing to be able to help customers with not just an everyday purchase, but a purchase that will last them a lifetime of memories. To know that I could help build these memories, that’s when I knew that this was the right business for me.
What’s your favorite candy?
My favorite candy is and always will be, Reese’s Pieces.. you just made me wish I had some right now!
Here is a bit more from Shadia…
At Ve’Lace Bridal we realize that it’s more than just the beautiful bridal gown. The gown and achieving the perfect fit is what we specialize in. But, what’s just as important as this is creating memories to last a lifetime. It’s what we want for you the moment you step foot into our boutique. That’s right, at Ve’Lace Bridal we take pride in the ‘one bride at a time’ experience. When choosing your gown at Ve’Lace, you and your guests have the entire space to enjoy. It is with great pleasure that I introduce to you a bridal store that provides you with everything you deserve and more.
My name is Shadia and I am the owner of Ve’Lace Bridal. I knew from the moment I found my dream gown 5 years ago that this was what I would specialize in one day. And that is, making brides happy. You know when you just know? I saw what was lacking in the industry, I knew what was needed. A variety of gorgeous gowns, reasonable prices, being in a store that makes you feel at home, knowledgeable staff and seamstresses, and feeling like you are the only bride.
