Blush Babe Tribe | Emily | Rhode Island Boudoir Photographer

I’m honored to share this Blush Babe with you guys.  Emily is AH-MAZING.  She is an interior designer who is such a light on social media.  You can find her here:  Emily Everyday.  I find myself watching her talk about everything from her pitbull Opal to what she bought at Homegoods.  She has such a big heart and wants to help local small businesses which is EVERYTHING.  You guys know how I feel about supporting one another.  I’ll let her tell you all about who she is in her own words.  Thank you to Christine Dianne for working her magic on makeup!

1. Name, age, job, hobbies, (your three words to describe you):

Hi – My name is Emily Blanchard and I am 28 years old. (But still feel 18 most of the time!) I’m an interior stylist, story teller, and pitbull advocate. Last December I started posting pictures of my home to Instagram, not knowing what it would lead to. Today, I have 38 thousand followers and a successful blog that has been featured by HGTV! I recently launched my own design business and offer courses to help others grow their social media presence. And that’s just my side hustle! On top of that, I have a full-time job in Health Insurance. When I’m not working, I’m hanging out with my rescue Pitbull, Opal, and spreading the word about breed discrimination.

2.  What is a typical day like for you?

A typical day involves lots of balance. Not only do I need to be present at my full-time job but I also need to create content for social media. From photoshoots and editing to creating copy and campaigns for brands, I spend over 10 hours a day on my phone and computer. (That’s probably why I’m going blind!) Not to mention, I need to check in with both design clients and students from my course!

3. On hard days, what motivates you to get up and start your day?

For the sake of sounding cheesy, each day is a fresh start. It is what you make of it. So the promise of new adventures (and opportunities) motivates me on tough days!

4. Who inspires you to live your best life?

Someone I really admire is Sophia Bush. She inspires me to be a better woman. She is smart, educated, and a voice for those who don’t have one. (Like the children who have been taken from their parents at the US border.) Sophia marches for women and speaks out against gun violence. She focuses on giving back to the community and protecting our environment. She uses her platform to better the world and I can only hope to do the same one day. Plus she’s a Pitbull momma too! 😂

5. If you could go back and tell your 13 year old self something…what would that be?

Be nicer to your mom. Don’t stuff your bra. (Bigger isn’t always better!) Stop trying to force love with any boy that looks your way. Don’t be afraid to be different from everyone else. Spend every moment you can with your best friends because some of them won’t make it to 17. Save your money. Smart is sexy.

6. What is your favorite quote?

“Start over my darling. Be brave enough to find the life you want and courageous enough to chase it. Then start over and love yourself the way you were always meant to be.” – Madalyn Beck

It took me a long time to realize that the bravest thing you can ever do is leave a life that’s comfortable, easy, but unhappy for one that is hard, uncertain, but full of joy. Starting over is scary but living an unfulfilled life is even scarier.

7. You are inspiring women to stop hating and start loving themselves and each other, what piece of advice would you give them?

Community over competition always. As women we are so quick to compare ourselves to others. Comparison is the thief of joy. Invest in yourself. Love yourself. And if you can’t do that right now, at least try to love others. Tell another woman she is beautiful. Show someone kindness. Because it costs nothing but means everything.
