Beauty in definition means a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, esp. the sight. What is beauty to you?
Beauty has become a certain look. A certain shape. A certain style. A certain type. A certain status. Society has turned being beautiful into something unrealistic. Unfortunately, we are all guilty of it. We either judge each other or we judge ourselves. We compare. We hate. We covet. We loathe. We lust. We ruin what beauty is supposed to be.
Being beautiful is more than having a pretty face. It’s so much more. It pains me to see young girls feeling terrible about themselves because of what society has deemed “beautiful.” Yes, every woman on this earth is beautiful. Not only the models who are photoshopped into perfection in the magazines. Not only the actresses who get their hair and makeup done whenever they are on camera. But every woman. We may not all have perfect skin or perfect hair or the perfect figure. But we have hearts, souls, brains, and inner beauty.
Why am I rambling on about beauty? Well I was one of those young girls who let bullying and emotional abuse get the best of me. I let people tell me that I wasn’t beautiful. That I was too fat. That I had big feet. That I wasn’t good enough. To this day I still struggle with insecurities. But in my heart I know they are just that. Insecurities. I know it isn’t who I am. I am beautiful. I am a good person. I have a big heart. I like the way I look. I. Am. Beautiful. And so are you.
I have such a passion to bring the beauty out in women. I want them to see and feel how beautiful they are. I want to empower them. I want to heal their hearts. I want to be their friend. I want to hold their hand and cry with them as they overcome the negative influences in their lives. I want to learn and grow together. I chose to become a photographer to do just that. I will specialize in glamour, senior, and boudoir photography. I hope to connect with women in all stages of their lives. I want to encourage you as well as learn from you.
I ask again. What is beauty to you?
