THE KIM LYN JOURNAL

My little corner of the internet where I share all about being a Girlboss, photographer, mama, and about life in general.
Based in North Smithfield, Rhode Island. Available for travel.

Another year older.

Dear 29 year old Kim,

A lot has happened in the past year.  Some things you were ready for.  Some things you weren’t.  Twenty nine looks like it’s going to be a year of growth.  The last year before you reach your 30s.  Yuck.  But in the grande scheme of things you are still young.  You still have such a long way to go.  Take time to just relax.  Breathe.  Enjoy.

You lost one of your best friends this year.  It was probably one of the hardest things in your life.  But you know Memere’ is looking down on you.  She always protected you and cheered for you in all aspects of your life.  She isn’t gone.  She is smiling down from heaven with Pepere’ still watching over you.  You have to remember that.  Remember them.  The way they were always happy.  No matter what was going on in their lives….Memere’ always had a smile.  She always offered open arms.  She always offered food.  Comfort.  A smile.  Be that for your children and your grandchildren.  Don’t let the rush of life take those moments away from you because when you are gone….that is what you leave behind.  Exist in photographs for your children and your children’s children because that is what you leave behind.  Besides the memories…Photographs are all you have left of them.

Kim, you are building your own business from the ground up.  You can do anything you want to with it.  Use it to bring people joy.  Use it to show the love of God.  Use it to share memories with them.  You are good enough.  You are already successful because you are doing something you love.  Share this gift with everyone.  One person at a time.  Don’t look back.  Don’t let anyone take away this happiness from you.  Surround yourself with positive people.

You are blessed with such a beautiful family.  Take time away to just be with them.  Take more pictures of them because they are changing so fast.  Especially the boys.  They are literally going to sprout up and one day you will barely recognize them.  Life goes way to fast.  Stop the moments as often as you can.

Stop taking yourself so seriously.  Laugh.  Joke.  Dance.  Be the goofball you know that you are.  Why have you tucked her away?  Let her carefree spirit come back out.  Everything will happen in God’s timing.  Learn to have more faith in him.  Be content.  Go to the ocean by yourself with a good book.  Don’t sweat the small things.

Twenty nine year old Kim, enjoy this life.  It’s the only one you’ve got.  Always put God first.  Thank God for everything.  Enjoy the blessings he has given you.  Your family, your health, your home, your personality, your business, your friendships.  Take time to cherish all of them.

Most of all be happy.  Life is too short to be anything else.

Happy Birthday.

In honor of throwback thursday here is an old picture of me. 🙂
