That’s right, Kim Lyn Photography was nominated to participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge by the beautiful ladies over at Secret Beauty Spa. Of course I accepted. Helping out charities and those in need is so important to me. I hope this challenge sparks even more attention and helps out other charities as well.
Rules of the challenge:
If you are nominated you must donate $25 or more to The ALS Foundation and do the Ice Bucket Challenge
If you refuse the challenge you must donate $100 to the charity.
You have 24 hours to complete this challenge!
Who I nominated:
Trevor Dayley and the Gamechangers NY Crew (Jennifer Manzi, Dianna Marr, Jon Lemon, Justin Soudant, Ashley Wilbur, Sarah Lanz, Heather Lanz McKeon, Sherry Sutton Anderson, and Christina Blanarovich)
The Day One Ladies (Bri Cibene, Brittany Adams, Laura Neff, Courtnee Murphy, Amy Lyon Bakalov, Melissa Dorn, Katie Adams, and Jennifer Schmidt)
Jasmine Star just for being super amazing and giving me the courage to follow my dream.
I wanted to nominate my Husband but he’s too cool. Just kidding! I donated for the both of us. We also donated to The Thalassemia Foundation. If you didn’t know my younger sister Gail and I both suffer from thalassemia intermedia and currently there is no cure. We are very lucky to live in the US where treatment is easy and we can live very normal lives but I would also love to raise awareness of it to help those in need.
Here is some information on ALS:
“ALS was first found in 1869 by French neurologist Jean-Martin Charcot, but it wasn’t until 1939 that Lou Gehrig brought national and international attention to the disease. Ending the career of one of the most beloved baseball players of all time, the disease is still most closely associated with his name. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed.” – From the ALSA.org website.
Thank you so much for nominating me Kelly, Brooke and Sandy! The challenge was fun and I was happy to donate! Alright my nominees you have 24 hours!
Here’s an outtake! It took me about 10 tries. Public speaking is just not my thing and I get super nervous and don’t know what to do with myself. Enjoy my awkwardness!
